In parallel to trimming their exposure elsewhere in emerging Asia, global fund managers rotated $1.6 billion into Indian shares on a net basis last month, with August marking the sixth straight month that Indian stocks have seen foreign inflows.
After last year’s sell off and the overhang of the Adani news flow that broke out in the first half, foreign investors are now just $137 million short of reversing the $17 billion they pulled from the Indian equity market in 2022.
Despite their punchy valuations, the country’s large and mid caps are expected to post earnings growth of 18.9% in 2023, making them the most profitable corporations in Asia.
